GEM STATE COMIC CON 2023
Gem State Comic Con (GSCC) celebrated its fifth year celebrating all things pop culture. In previous years GSCC has been a one-day convention. 2023 GSCC became a two-day weekend event with hundreds of vendors, exhibitors, artists, and special guests. GSCC is the official comic con of Idaho and the longest-running pop culture event in Idaho. If you are somebody in Idaho, you are at GSCC. Every year local officials and celebrities attend GSCC, and 2023 was no different. 2023 had stellar special guests which included Daniel Logan aka Boba Fett (Star Wars Episodes II & Star Wars Rebels), Peter Kelamis (Dragonball Z, Stargate Universe, and many more), Robert Costanzo (Total Recall, Batman; The Animated Series, Die Hard II, Saturday Night Fever), Carla Perez aka Rita Repulsa (Power Rangers), Anndi McAfee (The Land Before Time, Recess, Hey Arnold, and many more), Debbe Dunning ( Home Improvement), Jessie Flowers (Avatar: The Last Airbender), David Cheung (Andor), and Joey D'Auria (Bozo The Clown). Gem State Comic Con had a record attendee number of over 20,000 and loads of entertainment for the entire family.
GSCC SPECIAL ARTIST GUESTS
Artists become family at Gem State Comic Con. Idaho has favorite artists that they must see every year to commission sketches, or get more free autographs from the artists. In 2023 we saw a lot of returning artists and some new faces like Warren Montogomery (Will Lill Comics & Team Colossus colorist, letterer), Mog Park who illustrated for the Game of Thrones television series, and let's not forget J.R.R. Tolkien illustrator Kip Rasmussen who worked on David Day Tolkien books, and also illustrated the Peter Jackson "The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit" films. Together with the new artist guests, we saw returning GSCC veteran Luis Rivera (Team Colossus), Christie Shinn (Demon Bitch), Floydman Sumner (Garbage Pail Kids), Blake Coker (Team Colossus), Tobe Daranouvong (Villain Comics & Team Colossus), Matt Heagerty (Oni Press & Simon and Schuster), and we promise to invite them all back again in the future. They all love the people of Idaho.
GSCC COSPLAY SPECIAL GUESTS
Gem State Comic Con Cosplayers are the backbone of GSCC and the convention world as a whole. This year was no different and seeing not only our Cosplay guests host and judge the two days of cosplay contests but also seeing the thousands of cosplayers who came out to GSCC 2023. This year's guests included Cam Smith with his Joker cosplay, Winterstar Cosplay, Dutchess, The Captain America Supra, and Thor God of Thunder (Vehicle not shown) car that premiered for the very first time at Gem State Comic Con. History was made. Vehicles hosted and supported by Doug Campfield. Our lovely Gem Star was also making her appearance as cosplay contest host and spreading pop culture love throughout the weekend.
Sights and Sounds of GSCC 2023
Gem State Comic Con has the best attendees (Fandom Friends), the best vendors, and exhibitors. Everyone has a great time gathering under the GSCC banner and enjoying the weekend with friends and family. During the event, even strangers become family as we all gather to celebrate pop culture together. Here is just some of the fun in pictures..
GSCC Anndi McAfee Fan Feast
GSCC Fan Feast is always a crowd-pleaser and only a limited number of people can enjoy this exclusive event that takes place the night before the convention weekend. This year the headliner was Anndi McAfee from "The Land Before Time" franchise. Joining her was Jessy Flower from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and Peter Kelamis from "Dragonball Z." Those who attended were able to enjoy all you can eat pizza and beverages (Sponsored by Idaho Pizza Company), and sit and talk with the celebrities over pizza and drinks. It was an amazing time that will never be forgotten.

GSCC Visits Idaho News 6
Gem State Comic Con accepted the gracious invitation to visit Idaho News 6 morning team anchored by the great Matt Sizemore. Idaho News 6 was visited by two amazing actresses appearing at GSCC. Anndi McAfee who played the voice of Cera in "The Land Before Time" franchise, Jessy Flower from "Avatar: The Last Airbender," and GSCC President/Business Operations Dave Haworth. GSCC was honored to meet the morning crew of Idaho News 6 and take part in two segments.

GSCC RETRO ARCADE HANGOUT
Enjoy the GSCC Retro Arcade Hangout and play some classic games from the good ole days. Parents can teach their kids to play Pacman, Ms. Pacman, The Punisher, X-Men, Galaga, and many more. Games are all-day play for free.
FREE SWAG SCHEDULE
Free swag will be available Saturday and Sunday while supplies last. If you missed an opportunity to get the limited edition comics and posters they will also be available for sale at the convention merchandise booth or the artist's table that created the poster. These are limited editions, so come out early.
